Where it comes from
At Chhath, those keeping the fast offer water first to the setting sun and then, the next morning, to the rising one. Standing in the water at the ghats with baskets of fruit, people call this out. What's special about Chhath is that it needs no priest and no long list of mantras. Just the sun, and devotion.
How to chant it
At sunrise or sunset, while offering water.
When: Sundays, Chhath Puja and Makar Sankranti.
