    Meaning

"Jai Kashyap Nandan" is the best-known aarti to Surya. As the son of the sage Kashyapa and of Aditi, Surya is called Kashyap Nandan and Aditi Nandan, which is also where the name Aditya comes from. The aarti pictures him riding a one-wheeled chariot drawn by seven horses, driving the darkness out of the three worlds, and as Savita, the one who brings every good deed into being. In the last verse the devotee asks for nothing worldly at all, only to be freed from ignorance and delusion and given true understanding.
