    What it means

Sita and Ram, named together. It's usually said as a single word: Sitaram.

    Where it comes from

Ramanandi sadhus greet one another with Sitaram, and in Ayodhya and Chitrakoot it's an everyday hello. In bhakti, naming the Lord together with his shakti is the complete address, which is why Sita comes first. Some temples have kept an unbroken Sitaram kirtan going for years.

    How to chant it

In the rhythm of Sitaram Sitaram, on a mala or sung.

When: Any time. Ram Navami and Vivah Panchami especially.
