    History

Shani Shingnapur is a village in Nevasa taluka of Ahmednagar district, about 35 km from Ahmednagar town. Shani is worshipped here not as an image in a sanctum but as a black stone standing on an open platform — the shrine has no roof or spire over it.

    Spiritual significance

The village's best-known custom is that houses and shops are built without doors, because residents hold that Shani himself guards the place. This is a local belief and practice rather than a documented fact about crime. Shani Amavasya and Saturdays are the main days here, and the principal offering is oil.

    Darshan timings

Darshan is open through the day. Saturdays and Shani Amavasya bring heavy crowds and long queues.

Timings change on festivals and special occasions. Confirm with the temple's official source before you travel.

Buses and taxis run from both Ahmednagar and Shirdi; Shirdi is about 70 km away, so many visitors combine the two in one trip.

    Common questions

It is the village's well-known custom and many homes still follow it, though practice has shifted somewhat over time.

Mainly oil, poured over the stone — that is the principal offering at this shrine.
