History
The Siddhivinayak temple was built in 1801 by Laxman Vithu and Deubai Patil. The idol's trunk curves to the right, considered especially auspicious yet demanding — tradition holds that such idols require stricter worship rituals. The temple's popularity surged dramatically in the latter half of the 20th century, and it is today one of Mumbai's most-visited shrines.
Spiritual significance
Thousands of devotees visit daily, with especially long queues on Tuesdays, considered a particularly auspicious day for worshipping Ganesha.
