What it means
Victory to Mother Lakshmi. It's also how her best-known aarti, Om Jai Lakshmi Mata, begins.
Where it comes from
At the end of Diwali puja, when the whole family sings the aarti with the plate going round, these are the first words out. Even people who don't sing the full aarti often say just this while lighting the lamp.
How to chant it
With the aarti, or while lighting a lamp.
When: Friday evenings and Diwali.
