    What it means

Just Radha's name, said twice. Nothing else is added.

    Where it comes from

In Mathura and Vrindavan people say Radhe Radhe when they meet and again when they part: at the shop counter, in the lane, when they pick up the phone. That's the quiet genius of it. The name stops being something you sit down to do and becomes part of how you talk all day. On Radhashtami it rings loudest in Barsana, Radha's own village.

    How to chant it

Inwardly or under your breath, whenever it comes to mind. If you like, pair it with breathing: one Radhe on the in-breath, one on the out.

When: All day. Radhashtami is its special day.

    Try it now
