    History

    Gita Jayanti falls on Margashirsha Shukla Ekadashi, the day Krishna delivered the Bhagavad Gita to Arjuna on the battlefield of Kurukshetra at the outset of the Mahabharata war. This teaching, weaving together the paths of Karma, Bhakti, and Jnana Yoga, continues to be read worldwide as a guiding philosophical text.

    Significance

    A grand International Gita Mahotsav is held in Kurukshetra (Haryana) on this day, and temples and ashrams worldwide organize collective recitations of the Bhagavad Gita.
