History
According to legend, the idol here was installed by Guru (Brihaspati) and Vayu (the wind god) on Lord Krishna's own instruction, giving the temple its name "Guruvayur." It is counted among Kerala's oldest and most revered Vaishnava shrines and is a fine example of traditional Kerala temple architecture.
