History
A distinctive feature of Nalhati Shakti Peeth is that it lies just a short distance from Nalhati Junction railway station itself, making it one of the most easily accessible Shakti Peethas in India. Tradition holds that a nerve/vein from Sati's throat fell here, giving the site the name "Nalateshwari."
Spiritual significance
Its proximity to the station makes it a popular day-trip destination from Kolkata, especially for pilgrims also covering West Bengal's other Shakti Peethas like Bakreshwar and Kalighat.
