History
The temple stands at Bilaspur village in Panchkula district, at the foot of the Shivalik hills. The main shrine is generally credited to Raja Gopal Singh of Manimajra in the early 19th century; a second temple in the complex was built by the Maharaja of Patiala. It is now administered by the Shri Mata Mansa Devi Shrine Board constituted by the Haryana government.
Spiritual significance
This is the foremost Devi shrine for Haryana and the neighbouring Punjab and Chandigarh region. Large fairs are held during the Chaitra and Ashwin Navratris, drawing lakhs of pilgrims. Note that the Mansa Devi temple at Haridwar is a different shrine.
