    Meaning

"Aarti Kije Hanuman Lala Ki" honours Shri Hanuman, the foremost devotee of Rama and the vanquisher of the wicked. Its verses recall his feats — carrying Rama's ring across the ocean, bringing back word of Mata Sita, the burning of Lanka, reviving the unconscious Lakshman with the Sanjeevani herb, and descending to Patala to slay Ahiravan. The final couplet carries the signature of Tulsidas. It is sung on Tuesdays and Saturdays, and after a recitation of the Hanuman Chalisa.

    Benefits

    • 🪷Sung to close a recitation of the Hanuman Chalisa or Sundarkand
    • 🪷A central part of Tuesday and Saturday worship
    • 🪷Traditionally sung to dispel fear, crisis and negativity
    • 🪷Essential to the puja performed on Hanuman Jayanti

    Chanting Method

Light a lamp of jasmine oil before an image of Hanuman and offer sindoor and red flowers. Sing the aarti while circling the lamp clockwise. Close by offering jaggery and gram or boondi laddus as bhog, then distribute the prasad.

    Best Time

Tuesdays and Saturdays are considered most auspicious; either early morning or evening is suitable.

    FAQ

To give the beera is to entrust someone with a difficult charge. Rama gave Hanuman the charge of finding Mata Sita and sent him to Lanka.

Ahiravan was Ravana's brother, who carried Rama and Lakshman off to the netherworld. Hanuman descended to Patala, slew him, and freed the two brothers.

It is the composer's signature (bhanita). Tradition attributes this aarti to Goswami Tulsidas, who also composed the Hanuman Chalisa.
